It was already expected that the Las Vegas Grand Prix would take place at a late time and now it has been announced that it will be the latest start time of an F1 race.

Las Vegas GP will be late race

The Las Vegas race will start at 22:00 local time on Saturday night. So writes Motorsportweek.com. That means European F1 fans will still be able to watch the race on Sunday. To run a race in the dark at a time when most F1 fans can see it, Saturday night was chosen. Because of Las Vegas' location close to the West Coast of the United States, having the race start at 22:00 seems a good solution. This makes the start later than the start in Singapore, which usually takes place at 20:00 local time.

Las Vegas returns to the F1 calendar for the first time since 1985. Free practice will take place in the United States on Thursday, followed by qualifying on Friday. The race will feature 50 laps. The laps are 6.1 kilometres long and there are seventeen corners on the circuit with a straight across Las Vegas' iconic Strip. With this event, Formula 1 hopes to establish a significant foothold in the US market.
