Timo Glock is sure: Nyck de Vries will be on the F1 grid in 2023. After his performance at the Italian Grand Prix, the Dutchman is now a key player for the teams.

De Vries in F1

De Vries was already a contender for the Williams seat in 2023 prior to the Italian GP, but his chance to drive a race weekend for the team has only improved his position in the driver's market. De Vries was able to score points immediately on his debut, leaving Nicholas Latifi behind.

''He did a super, super job. Jumping into the car for your very first Formula 1 race and then delivering it like that is outstanding. He really did a top job. He was also very, very clever in the race and stayed out of everything on lap one. De Vries found a rhythm straight away and went straight on the train. He has given a clear business card for next year'', says the former F1 driver in his column for Sky Sports Germany.

Williams or Alpine?

According to Glock, it is now clear what effect this will have on the driver market. ''He's been one of the candidates the whole time, but of course, with an appearance like this one at the weekend, he made himself more of a talking point. Definitely going to show up on every team on the list now. I am also sure that we will see him in one of the cars next year'', Glock concludes.

De Vries seems to have the best chance at Williams after his performance for the team. There he has competition mainly from Williams-junior and American Logan Sargeant. Sargeant, however, is third in the F2 championship and cannot provide De Vries with his CV. De Vries is also said to be on the radar of Alpine, but is not the first choice there behind Pierre Gasly.
