Seidl: 'There were two reasons why we wanted Piastri'.

The decision is finally made and the Piastri saga seems to be over. Oscar Piastri has signed a multi-year contract with McLaren after the CRB decided that the contract was valid.

Seidl delighted with Piastri appointment

The team is delighted with the appointment of the new young talent. Team boss Andreas Seidl said in a press statement:  "The entire team is delighted to welcome Oscar to McLaren for the 2023 F1 season. He has an impressive racing career to date, and we are sure that together with Lando, he will be able to help us move another step forward towards our ambitions," he said. 

Speaking in front of Sky F1's cameras at the Zandvoort circuit in the Netherlands, the team boss added: "First, I want to mention that I am super happy to know that we have Oscar with us for next year together with Lando. Very excited driver line-up. There are two reasons why we wanted to have Oscar. I think he has shown in the junior categories that he is something very special and has a lot of potential. And, also in terms of personality, I think he is a perfect fit in our team. According to Seidl, the whole thing from the CRB was unnecessary. It is therefore no surprise to him that McLaren's contract with Piastri was found to be legally valid.
