Spectacle guaranteed at Circuit Zandvoort with wet qualifying

The Dutch Grand Prix promises to be a true spectacle. Not only because of the challenges of Zandvoort, but also because the changeable weather will play an important role.

The Dutch weather is very changeable and it shows in the run-up to the Dutch GP. GPblog checks the weather for the race weekend in Zandvoort every day, but the forecasts continue to fluctuate. One thing does seem certain though: rain is in the air for this weekend. The only question is if and when the rain will fall.

Rain in Zandvoort

While earlier this week it looked like there would be rain during the race at Circuit Zandvoort, it now indicates that there will be rain on Saturday during qualifying. Weather.com now indicates that there is a chance of light afternoon rain on Saturday during the third free practice and qualifying sessions. The chance of rain on Saturday is 70% and the temperature for the day of qualifying is 25 degrees.

That rain seems to come out of nowhere, because on Thursday and Friday there is not yet a raindrop that will touch the asphalt in North Holland. The chance of rain on Thursday and Friday is no more than 2%. Also Sunday, the day of the race, the chance of rain is much smaller. It will remain cloudy on Sunday, but the chance of rain is only 19%.
