Not only Max Verstappen will be in action at Zandvoort this weekend. Fellow countryman Richard Verschoor will also race the Formula 2 at the circuit in the dunes. He admits that he has not raced there for several years and that he will have to work hard and that there is no home field advantage.

This weekend, Formula 2 will race for the first time at the circuit in the North Holland seaside resort. Last year, Formula 3, W Series and the Porsche Supercup completed the supporting programme at the first Dutch Grand Prix weekend since 1985.

No home advantage

Verschoor will be driving for the Italian team Trident. They may think they can benefit from the local knowledge of their Dutch driver, but according to the driver from Benschop that is disappointing. Nevertheless, he has a good feeling about it and he can certainly count on support from the Dutch public. Verschoor says to Newsweek Verschoor tells that he has not raced there for five or six years. "So that will be hard work. I know the track of course, but I have not been through those curves yet. So I have no home advantage. The guys who raced there last year in Formula 3 know the track better."

He is looking forward to the weekend with confidence, especially as Trident usually does well on twisty tracks."Normally it's better, although I thought so too in Hungary, where it was a bit less. But I have a good feeling about it myself."

The Formula 2 sprint race is Saturday at 5pm. The main race is Sunday at 10.20am.
