Haas F1's Kevin Magnussen hopes that his car will perform better on Saturday compared to Thursday, as the Dane only managed to complete seven laps in FP1 and looked very slow in the laps he did drive in both FP1 and 2.

Haas was the slowest team in FP1 and Magnussen only came sixteenth in FP2 after completing 42 laps.

He's confident that Haas can still get a result this weekend, simply because the midfield is so close.

"Obviously, we’re not where we wanted to be today in terms of pace and also in terms of not getting much running in FP1,” K-Mag said on Thursday.

“I’m hoping for a better day on Saturday.

“We’ve got lots of time to work on the car with having Friday off, at least from driving, and we can think a lot more about the setup.

"Hopefully, we’ll improve the situation for qualifying.

“The whole field is very tight, so even though it looks bad position-wise, we don’t have to find that much time to go quite a bit forward.”

What won't help is that his teammate Romain Grosjean is slumping right now in terms of form, as he hasn't finished in the points for nine races in a row now, dating all the way back to October of last year. Whether the Haas cars can pull something out of this weekend, we'll just have to wait and see!
