Grosjean denies any performance targets for 2019 seat

Romain Grosjean insists he hasn't been given any performance targets to meet in order to set his stall out for 2019. The Frenchman is yet to score any points in 2018 and has crashed out of the last two Grands Prix.

Grosjean seemed relaxed about his future at Haas during a Q+A session with firstpost. The 32-year-old has been anything but quiet in the media this week after lashing out against the British press.

He has a 3-place grid penalty for this weeks Monaco Grand Prix making qualifying all the more important. He seemed confident he will remain at the American team next season.

“I haven’t been thinking about it too much,” Grosjean said.

“At one point, we need to sit down and talk about it, but right now we are more focussed on getting the race right.”

"I was the first one to join the Haas project. I could see then that it was a very different, intelligent approach to F1 and that it could work.

“Three years into F1, we potentially have the fourth fastest car on the grid — that is incredible.”

Having the fourth fastest car is quite a claim for Grosjean. McLaren and Renault are battling it out for 4th place in the constructors' title whilst Haas are 22 points behind. Only Kevin Magnussen has scored points for Haas this season totalling 19.
