Wolff: "Can't be satisfied with Verstappen in a league of his own"

Mercedes had another challenging day in the Belgian Grand Prix. For Lewis Hamilton, it all ended in tears after he caused a crash with Fernando Alonso on the opening lap. But George Russell proved the car still had good race pace. Team boss Toto Wolff wasn't very happy in his post session interview. 

Wolff not satisfied 

Max Verstappen completed one of his most dominant wins in Formula 1. Starting from 14th on the grid, he managed to drive to P1 and win the race by over 15 seconds. This isn't a fact that delights Wolff. 

"I don't think you can be satisfied if you see Verstappen in a league of his own. We need to find out how we can improve our car. The gap is just too big. Well, that was not great on us all weekend. A track that we should be more competitive at," Wolff told Sky Sports. 

Hamilton has once again been vocal during the week, criticising the car's performance. Wolff was asked how he keeps the morale up in the factory but agreed with his driver whilst admitting the focus is already on the 2023 F1 season. 

"That is just the reality. The car is difficult to drive and doesn't have the pace over a single lap. We need to work ourselves out of this. We will set our sights on not only the next few races but next season," Wolff added.
