Williams rookie Sergey Sirotkin has had anything but a smooth start to his F1-career in 2018, but the Russian sees a silver lining in the fact that he will learn from this experience as a driver.

Sirotkin hasn't put any points on the board yet for Williams and was the cause of a collision at the start of the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, so things aren't looking perfect for the Russian. Still, it's not all bad.

"I make it hard for myself this way, but that doesn't mean it's a bad thing," he told Autosport.com.

"If I would've spent a third of the time in the factory of the time I actually did, that would have been enough.

"But that's my personal wish - I want to help the team as much as I can."

Team boss Claire Williams, who chose Sirotkin over the more experienced Robert Kubica, says that she's happy with the attitude of the rookie.

"Someone who is new in the sport has a big need to prove themselves," she said

"Still, Sergey stays grounded and tries his best.

"We're very impressed with his attitude and his approach."
