Christian Horner is happy with the fact that Jos Verstappen has been so present in the development of Max Verstappen and his first years in Formula 1. The Red Bull Racing team boss was prepared for the worst when Verstappen was signed, but Horner turned out to be misinformed.

"I had heard terrible stories about Jos before he came to the team, but I must say he has been very valuable. He never caused any problems within the team", Horner said in an interview with Martin Brundle for Sky Sports during the summer break.

Verstappen Sr. always wrote a column on Verstappen.com on the Mondays after the first Grands Prix of the season. The former Formula 1 driver did not hide his opinion there, just like all Verstappens are: straight to the point. There were many compliments for Red Bull, but even mistakes were not ignored.

After the Monaco Grand Prix Jos wrote that he thought Red Bull should have gone all out in the race to help 'championship leader' Verstappen and not given Perez the best strategy. "He gives his opinion in a blog, which may not have been very helpful, but I have to say he has been perfect for a father in motor racing," Horner said.

After Jos' critical column, Helmut Marko arranged for a conversation between Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez about what had been said. Remarkably, Max' father wrote one more column later and that was the last one of 2022.
