Red Bull Racing are well on their way to winning the world title for the second time in a row this calendar year, according to Ralf Schumacher. The former Formula One driver does not see the team in danger any time soon, he told Sky Sports.

At the start of the season it looked as though Ferrari might have a serious shot at the world title. With Charles Leclerc winning two of the first three Grands Prix of the year, the Italian team took a big lead over Max Verstappen and made quite an impression.

World title for Ferrari is far away

Nothing could have been further from the truth, however, as despite Ferrari's better car, the Dutchman has managed to put in a top performance in almost every race. Ferrari clearly have things less under control due to strategic blunders and personal mistakes by their own drivers.

"As far as the championship is concerned, there is little hope for Ferrari at the moment," Schumacher therefore stated. "Red Bull is doing so well that a lot would have to happen to change that. Mercedes is now getting in the way and becoming a threat to Ferrari, taking a lot of points away from Leclerc and (Carlos, ed.) Sainz."

"We had hoped it would happen and it would be nice if it did, but Red Bull need a lot of bad luck in the second half of the season for an exciting battle for the world title," the German concluded. The difference between Verstappen and Leclerc is currently eighty points in favour of the Red Bull driver.
