Ralf Schumacher did not mince his words after the Hungarian Grand Prix. According to the German Ferrari is 'destroying' itself after the strategy did not work again. He does not expect much to change after the summer break and Max Verstappen will drive to his second championship.

Verstappen already holds title with one hand

It doesn't really matter anymore, thinks Schumacher, who is quoted by SpeedWeek.com. There are still races to come in which Verstappen might have to start from the back of the grid one day because of engine changes. "If they [Red Bull Racing] do this at a track that suits them, that's not a problem either," he said.

"Even if Mercedes take something away from him at the front, because the Silver Arrows are getting stronger, not much can happen to the Dutchman as long as he stays in front of Ferrari," Schumacher continued. Hungary marked the first time in 2022 that a Mercedes had started from pole position, indicating that Mercedes are making improvements to the W13.

Ferrari making it difficult for themselves

"It is unlikely that we will see the big turnaround at the end of August. Especially as Ferrari are destroying themselves with failed pit stops and tyre strategy." According to Michael Schumacher 's brother, Ferrari already ruined the strategy on the Friday, because the team used softs that were so needed on Sunday.

The summer break will be a difficult period for Charles Leclerc, Schumacher predicts. After two disappointing races, he now has four weeks of 'media terror' says the German. "That's a lot for the poor guy, but he has to get through it."
