Force India upgrade will not fix everything

Force India’s Bob Fernley has suggested the upgrade arriving in Spain this weekend will not fix all the issues the team currently have. Perez provided a positive spin on Force India’s campaign after finishing on the podium in Baku.

The team held on to the fourth position last season in the constructors' championship. But so far in 2018, McLaren and Renault have a 20 point advantage over them.

“I think feet on the ground, we’ve still got a little way to go, we’re not quite there yet,” Fernley admitted to motorsport.com

“We’ve not addressed all the correlation issues that we had in Melbourne, but we’re on the way to it.

“I think we probably could and should have got points in Bahrain and Shanghai, and obviously we had first-lap incidents. In Baku, we had a fantastic bonus.”

The upgrades include changes to the sidepod design to remove issues discovered, but Fernley's expectations remain low.

“We shall still have some issues in Barcelona, it’s not going to be all plain sailing.”
