Mario Isola saw a very hot track in France during qualifying on Saturday. He was therefore pleased to see that the tyres held up well despite the conditions, he said in the Pirelli press release.

The record was almost broken by just a few degrees based on the track temperature."The track temperatures peaked at 56 degrees on Saturday, which is still a few degrees away from our all-time record set in Malaysia in 2016, but despite these high temperatures, all compounds performed well."

According to Isola, it was interesting to see that a second fast lap was possible after the tyres had cooled down."Thanks to a good level of grip and recovery of performance."

Different strategies

So it is likely that we will see a number of different strategies during the race, in conditions that may be warmer than Saturday."On paper, a one-stopper from medium to hard is actually theoretically the fastest, but I still think most teams will aim for a two-stopper, probably using the medium and hard tyres," concludes the Pirelli chief.
