Helmut Marko has hinted at a possible candidate for one of the AlphaTauri seats for 2024. New Red Bull talent Isack Hadjar has a chance to get a Formula 1 seat according to the Austrian, if he performs well.

The Red Bull talent is currently second in the Formula 3 driver's championship, just one point off the leader in the standings. In Spielberg, Hadjar impressed with his first feature race win of the season. The 17-year-old seems to be on his way to a Formula 2 seat in 2023.

Marko was immediately impressed by Hadjar. In May 2021, the Frenchman took pole position and victory in Monaco in the Formula Regional championship, something that did not go unnoticed by the Red Bull advisor. As a result, he is part of the Red Bull Junior Academy from 2022 onwards.

Who will take place at AlphaTauri?

"If he performs well in F2, there is a good chance that Isack Hadjar could be seen in F1 in 2024", Marko reveals in a conversation with AutoHebdo. Pierre Gasly recently signed a 2023 contract with AlphaTauri, but it's unlikely the Frenchman will want to drive for Red Bull's B-team after that. Gasly will be keen to move to another team now Red Bull has signed a longer contract with Sergio Perez.

Yuki Tsunoda has not yet signed a new contract for 2023. The Japanese driver has been achieving mixed results and caused a collision with his teammate at Silverstone. Red Bull also has other talented juniors, including Jehan Daruvala, Dennis Hauger and Liam Lawson. Perez will remain with Red Bull Racing until at least the end of 2024, so the junior drivers will have to compete with each other for a seat at AlphaTauri.
