Antonio Felix da Costa won Sunday's Formula E race in New York from pole. The DS Techeetah driver kept his nerves in check against Mercedes driver Stoffel Vandoorne, Mitch Evans finished third. Robin Frijns finished sixth, with Nyck de Vries behind him in P7.

No pole for Cassidy

Da Costa started from pole in place of Nick Cassidy. The Envision Racing team was forced to replace the battery pack and cooling system, which resulted in a grid penalty. As a result, the Portuguese dominated for his first win of the season despite enormous pressure from Vandoorne.

Andre Lotterer started from fourth but only got off the mark after a considerable delay. Polesitter Antonio Felix da Costa got off to a good start and defended his first place.

Vandoorne eventually worked his way up to second ahead of Alexander Sims' Mahindra, which was then hit by Vandoorne's teammate Nyck de Vries as he tried to pass Mitch Evans' Jaguar. Evans and De Vries later collided on the approach to turn six, causing Evans to half-spin after a wild moment.

Frijns vs De Vries

De Vries also had one at that point when he tried to pass Sims, which sent him back behind Evans and down to seventh with a damaged car. While the New Zealander pressured Sims, Frijns passed compatriot De Vries for sixth. A late-race scuffle threatened to affect the end of the race, but fortunately the race was completed.
