For Max Verstappen there are many warm memories when returning to the Red Bull Ring. Last year two races were held at Spielberg and both were won by the Dutchman of Red Bull Racing. This year the Dutchman hopes to make it three in a row after the damage at Silverstone. In the press conference prior to the Austrian GP, broadcast on Sky Sports, Verstappen looked back on the damage.

"It was a decent bit at the end. When you have such high speed, you can't see how big the piece is. It was stuck in my floor which is unlucky that it happened. It was Terrible to drive, I lost 2.5 seconds a lap from it. You couldn't see it from the outside because the floor is so big". In the end, he managed to finish seventh, limiting the damage in the standings.

Verstappen looking forward to 'orange' Red Bull Ring

According to Verstappen, the car felt like it had a flat tyre or there was a problem with the suspension. As a result, Red Bull brought the reigning world champion in for new tyres, but that didn't change the status of the car at all.

Verstappen's gaze now turns forward to a Dutch-tinged Austrian Grand Prix. Over 50,000 Dutch fans are expected in Spielberg, which Verstappen is looking forward to immensely. "This race is an enjoyable weekend with some much support coming from Holland. It's a home GP for us and we've had good results in the past. I really enjoy the layout as well. It's an interesting track."
