Van Kalmthout impresses with a great overtaking manoeuvre, but just misses the podium
Rinus van Kalmthout qualified eleventh for the IndyCar race at Mid-Ohio, but one day later he managed to catch up. The Dutch driver finished fourth and just missed out on the podium.
The start of 'Veekay' was not worldly, he even fell back to P13. This did not bother the driver from Hoofddorp, however, as he then really got into his stride. He moved up to fourth place, thanks to some fantastic overtaking from Josef Newgarden and Scott Dixon.

A podium finish was unfortunately out of the question, as the gap with the leaders was always more than five seconds and proved unbridgeable. Van Kalmthout therefore remains on one podium in 2022. Scott McLaughlin won the race from P2, ahead of defending champion Alex Palou and Will Power.
