Lewis Hamilton has struggled with his Mercedes car in the last few races, but today the Brit has qualified in P4 and is over the moon with his performance on a wet track in Canada.

"I feel amazing, so happy. P4 has never felt so good, to be honest. When I was in my first year of racing in 2007, when I got my first P4 in qualifying, this kinda feels like that," he told Sky Sports after the session.

Hamilton acknowledges struggles

The circuit was wet throughout the whole session and a dry line didn't show until the end of Q3, with the Brit explaining how hard it was on the track: "the car didn't feel great through the session, so I think tomorrow we should be in a much better position. We have a slightly different set-up still for the race, George's way was just better. Hopefully, we can stay in that position, but with this car, you need everything and more to come together."

Mercedes working hard to improve

To finish, the Mercedes driver highlighted the problems faced this season, stating, "it has been a difficult year and what we were faced with today, was difficult for everyone out there. Everyone is working so hard, and we are constantly faced with these challenges."
