Fittipaldi hopes for Formula 1 that Ferrari solves problems quickly

Ferrari is at a loss for what to do about the engine problems. More DNF's could prove fatal for their own and driver Charles Leclerc's championship chances. Emerson Fittipaldi would consider it a shame for Formula 1 if the issues persist for several more weeks.

"They have a problem for sure. There is no time. They have very little time to solve the problem for Montreal," says Fittipaldi in conversation with VegasInsider.com. That the next race this weekend is in Canada, on the other side of the world, makes it all even more difficult logistically.

Charles Leclerc will in any case not drive at the Gilles Villeneuve Circuit with the engine with which he crashed out in Baku. It is likely that the Ferrari driver will return to the first specification of the engine with which he showed up at the opening of the season in Bahrain. This would also allow him to avoid a grid penalty, as it is a change within the current pool.

F1-75 very fast

Fittipaldi was impressed with Ferrari's speed in Azerbaijan. "They are the fastest car for sure but they have a problem. And for the good of the sport I hope Ferrari have found the problem because this is the year they are extremely competitive. It’d be a shame if they don't find the problem because it's going to make the championship so exciting, having the Red Bulls fight in the Ferraris and vice versa," he states.

The two-time world champion is personally convinced that the problem will be solved in Maranello, because they have advanced technology and a lot of knowledge thanks to experienced employees. The big question, according to Fittipaldi, is therefore not if, but when the issues will be history.
