Red Bull crew will do things differently in Canada on a detail level

The Azerbaijan Grand Prix meant another one-two punch for Red Bull Racing's men, yet there are still areas for improvement heading into next weekend. In the pit lane at the Baku circuit, there were a few lapses, as Helmut Marko points out at Motorsport-Total.com.

There was no satisfaction with any of the pit stops for the formation from Milton Keynes. Fortunately it didn't have any consequences for Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez, but Marko reckons that the race in Canada in a few days' time will be a lot more exciting. It could well come down to the details and a quick pit stop could make all the difference.

In the few free days Red Bull has, the pit stops performed in Baku will be thoroughly analyzed. Red Bull will have a camera at all pit stops, filming every move. Team manager Jonathan Wheatley would have noticed a few details during the race in Azerbaijan that need to be changed.

Red Bull favorite in Canada

For the ninth Grand Prix of the season, the Formula One circus descends on the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal, again a semi-street track. Marko sees Red Bull as the biggest contender for victory, because like last week, much of the track is driven at full throttle. The RB18 is the fastest car of all on the straight, so that is to the advantage of Verstappen and Perez.

Also in terms of reliability, unlike the Ferrari engine, it is more than okay. In Baku Verstappen and Perez drove with a new engine for the first time, a tactical engine change. As it looks now, grid penalties remain out of the question in 2022 for Red Bull. For title contender Charles Leclerc, that's probably not the case.
