Max Verstappen and street circuits are not necessarily a good match yet. Thus, during the press conference in Baku, he looks back to the 2021 Azerbaijani Grand Prix and the qualifying of the previous race in Monaco.

Full focus on 2022 GP

With four laps to go, Verstappen seemed to be driving to a comfortable victory at the Baku City Circuit in 2021, but that victory did not come in the end. The Dutchman's left rear tyre blew out on the very fastest part of the circuit. The victory and 25 points could therefore be forgotten.

In the press conference prior to the Azerbaijan Grand Prix, Verstappen says, quoted by Formule1.nl, that he does not think back to last year's race. It was not the fault of Verstappen himself or Red Bull Racing. According to the 24-year-old driver, everything is different this time on the streets of Baku. Even Pirelli's rubber has changed from the previous visit. Verstappen is keen to get the balance right in 2022 and win the Grand Prix.

Retrospective on Monaco

Verstappen also looks back briefly on the Monaco Grand Prix, which took place two weeks ago. The Dutchman praises his team for the good strategic decisions they have made. He says he was particularly disappointed with Q3, in which he could not finish his last fast lap because of the red flag.
