George Russell and Lewis Hamilton will start sixth and eighth on the grid for tomorrow's Monaco Grand Prix and Mercedes team boss Toto Wolff seems hopeful that a result could be made from this.

The race pace looked stronger than the single lap in practice," Wolff stated in a press release from the team, "but it's hard to make it count here, as we know."

Rain has been reported to hit the circuit during the race tomorrow and it's something that the Austrian believes can help his drivers out. "It looks like the weather will mix things up for tomorrow, so let's see how it turns out and whether we can make the most of the opportunities that might come our way."

Monaco never been strong for Mercedes

"That was a typically chaotic Monaco qualifying session," Wolff added, "at the end George got his lap done and Lewis missed out because of the red flags, which maybe cost him a position on the grid tomorrow."

Russell showing where pace could be

Russell has been one of the most consistent drivers on the grid so far this season, bringing the best out of the Mercedes car in every race and it's something Wolff highlighted after the qualifying session, adding, "I think George's result shows where the pace of the car is this weekend - Monaco has never been the easiest place for us, and that's been true again this year.
