Mercedes may have made a better impression in the Spanish Grand Prix than at the beginning of the season, but a world title for the racing stable seems unrealistic. Nevertheless, Ross Brawn expects Lewis Hamilton not to be put off easily.

The seven-time world champion was consistently competing for the lead in the world championship since the beginning of the hybrid era. This season, however, the situation is different, as Red Bull Racing and Ferrari built a better cars than Mercedes for the time being.

Hamilton is keen on another world title

This still puts Hamilton on par with Michael Schumacher who also has seven world titles to his name. Hamilton is only too eager to break that record and Brawn does not expect the Briton to put this out of his mind easily, he tells Evening Standard.

"Amid all the glitz and the glamour, you still have a very determined racing driver," argues Formula One's chief technical officer. "He’s still supremely fit and capable. I’m pretty certain he wants to win that eighth championship and, if not this year as looks likely, then next year."
