Formula 1 's goal is to be as sustainable a class as possible. The current calendar does not contribute to this, as races are criss-crossed around the world. That must come to an end next year.

New strategy

Autosport.com writes about a new strategy of F1 boss Stefano Domenicali, which he revealed during a meeting with the team managers in Barcelona. A more efficient calendar not only reduces the number of air miles, but also helps to reduce the increased freight costs.

The plan is to divide the calendar by region. For example, think of clustering the races in Canada and Miami. This year F1 has to cross the ocean twice in one month and according to Domenicali that can be done more efficiently. Although the Italian did not elaborate on what could change during the meeting, it is clear that Baku could be placed in a series of races with Shanghai and Suzuka.

Not simple

Undoubtedly, it will take quite a bit of work to implement the changes. The organizers of the races must also be convinced. Especially with street races, it is not easy to adjust their date.
