Lewis Hamilton struggled in qualifying today in comparison to his teammate George Russell but was still able to claim the sixth position and the final third-row spot. The Brit thinks that a battle with Ferrari could occur during the race tomorrow, despite being beaten by his teammate earlier today and starting further down the grid.

"Yesterday was the best race pace we had, we might be able to compete with the Ferrari's," Hamilton told Sky Sports, before adding, "I am gutted because I want to be further ahead. George got further ahead than me. I will keep pushing."

Mercedes driver thankful for teamwork

The seven-time World Champion still had time to thank and praise the work that the Mercedes team have put in, stating, "the team have done such a great job. A big, big thank you to them for continuing to push back at the factory because we don't have bouncing in a straight line which is a huge improvement for us."

However, porpoising is still affecting the team and needs to be sorted soon according to Hamilton, "the car has generally been nice but we still have bouncing through turns three and nine, so we need to keep working to try and gain more downforce elsewhere."
