Formula 1 will not have 23, but 22 Grands Prix this season. The motorsport class has come to the decision not to look for a replacement for the cancelled race in Russia, let Formula1.com know.

Due to the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Formula 1 decided prior to the season that a GP would no longer be held in Russia. The organisation then started looking for a replacement, and the circuits in Qatar and Singapore were among the possibilities.

Qatar turned out not to be an option due to the World Cup taking place later this year, while a second race in Singapore also seemed unfeasible. In the end, Formula 1 came to the conclusion that the costs of the race would not outweigh the benefits.

Only one triple-header in 2022

It means that the Formula 1 calendar will no longer have 23 races this season. With 17 GPs remaining this season, the teams will also have to deal with only one triple-header. The GP in Belgium is scheduled for the end of August, followed by races in the Netherlands and Italy in the two weeks that follow.
