Red Bull Racing is coming up with some sweeping changes for the Spanish Grand Prix to boost the performance of the cars of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. According to Christian Horner, they will even get a car that is seven kilograms lighter than before, he told Sky Sports F1.

At the beginning of the season, the Austrian racing team clearly fell short of the competition, but in the last two months, Red Bull made some big steps forward with the car. It ensured a victory for Verstappen in Imola as well as Miami.

The composition of the car of Verstappen and Perez will therefore look different in Barcelona. Because the car is lighter, the lap should be faster. "We need to improve [in] the slow corners," Horner stressed. "We need to lose a couple of kilos off the car; tyre degradation is then the result of weight."

Horner wants to keep developing Red Bull

It doesn't mean Red Bull will be there by then, however, as Horner hopes to take even more off the weight in the coming months. "We've hopefully got some developments coming later in the summer that will help as well, [as] we need to save a little bit of weight." However, Ferrari also looks to come up with an update in Barcelona, so it looks like it will be another great fight.
