Max Verstappen can count on praise from his team's advisor. Dr. Helmut Marko who mentions two decisive moments in the Dutchman's race and sees an important difference between Verstappen and rival Charles Leclerc.

Marko names two decisive moments

Verstappen continues the trend in Miami; if Red Bull Racing has no problems, the Dutchman will win the race. The Red Bull driver who had a difficult start to the weekend and made a mistake in qualifying, starting from P3, makes up for everything on Sunday and is catching up with his rival from Ferrari again. Marko praises the reigning world champion.

Speedweek quotes the advisor, "There were two decisive moments. First, that Max managed to catch Sainz directly at the start. Secondly, that he managed to follow Leclerc at just the right distance while the latter overloaded his tyres. This resulted in the overtaking. After that it seemed easy, until the safety car came." The safety car caused the tension in the Red Bull garage to rise considerably. Marko is grateful that the first two laps had no DRS.

Verstappen perfect, Leclerc not

Marko also concluded after the race that this year is going to be a race between Verstappen and Leclerc. Verstappen has lost 21 points to the Monegasque in two races. Marko: "We are on the same level as Ferrari. It's the track conditions and the driver who makes the difference now. Leclerc and Verstappen are in their own fight. Max is driving perfectly, while Leclerc is still making small mistakes. That's the key."
