The first free practice session for the Miami Grand Prix did not go as planned for Max Verstappen. The Dutchman was limited in action due to problems with an overheated car. At Sky Sports, Christian Horner explains the situation.

Verstappen was in the garage for much of FP1 due to maintenance on his car to get the temperatures under control. The track temperature in Miami rose to around fifty degrees Celsius.

"We're just wanting to make sure we get the temperatures under control at this stage. You don't want things running hot and cooking themselves", explains Horner. Verstappen sounded frustrated on the on-board radio, as the Dutchman preferred to drive as many laps as possible on the new circuit.

Horner doesn't dare predict anything

It will be exciting again this weekend who comes up with the best set-up. "It's going to be fascinating to see how the wing levels work here and whether we want to go up or down further for the next session", Horner says. Who will be fastest at this circuit the team boss finds difficult to say.

"The characteristics of the track looks a little bit like Jeddah or a cross between Jeddah and Azerbaijan so it's going to be about tyres. These temps are high. It will be a fascinating race", ends the Red Bull team boss.
