Daniel Ricciardo is having a difficult time at McLaren. The Australian still fails to meet expectations after more than a year and therefore seems to have to worry about his place within the team. Zak Brown states in conversation with Formula1.com that McLaren will come up with clarity before the end of the year.

By bringing in Ricciardo, the racing team hoped for improving results at the start of 2021, but the driver struggled to find his feet. Whereas his teammate Lando Norris brought in a lot of points, especially in the first half of the season, Ricciardo looked frustrated on several occasions.

In the new season, the driver hoped to put things right, but he is not succeeding yet. During the last race in Imola, Ricciardo did manage to grab three points in the sprint race, but during the race, he quickly crashed out.

McLaren quick to judge Ricciardo's future

Ricciardo, therefore, knows better than anyone that he must show something quickly to convince McLaren of his qualities. Otherwise, there is a possibility that the formation will say goodbye to him after 2023 when his contract ends. "Probably later this year," McLaren CEO Brown points to in the interview when he will give clarity. "We have another year together, we do like to think long out."
