The long-awaited and grandly announced Miami Grand Prix is sold out, and yet attendance numbers pale in comparison to those of Australia. As a result, the organizers will be expanding capacity next year.

The Miami event was not only long-awaited and grandly announced, it was also grandly dressed up and some in the F1 world called it an "insane" and "over the top" event in a positive way. Not surprisingly, the Grand Prix sold out. With the 240,000 visitors this weekend, the event did decide to expand capacity.

GP Miami proves popular

At least, that's what Dutch F1 journalist Erik van Haren reports on Twitter: "GP of Miami is sold out. 240,00 spectators over three days. Next years capacity will probably be expanded." It will be an American celebration with many festivities on the grounds along the track. There were also rumors that tickets were sold on the black market for usurious prices of tens of thousands of euros.

It is logical that the organization wants to expand the visitor capacity next year. At the Australian Grand Prix, a record number of 420,000 visitors was achieved. Miami only achieves a good half of this number. However, there may be more room for visitors at the Albert Park Circuit in Melbourne than on the streets of Miami. In any case, we know that the Miami GP is looking to welcome even more visitors next year.
