It is well known that Toto Wolff is a fan of Max Verstappen. The Austrian team boss would love to see the reigning world champion driving a Mercedes car in Formula 1 one day, but after Verstappen's crash at the Silverstone circuit he seemed to be throwing his own glasses in a bit. Meanwhile there has been contact again between Wolff and Jos Verstappen.

It all actually started in 2021 with the crash between Lewis Hamilton and Verstappen in the British Grand Prix. The Red Bull Racing driver hit the wall rock hard after contact with Hamilton at Copse. Verstappen had to go to the hospital for medical checks, Hamilton received a time penalty, but in the end he managed to win the race. Afterwards there were big celebrations at Mercedes, while not even asking about Verstappen's situation. The Dutch camp blamed Wolff and consorts for that.

Also the way Wolff acted after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix was not appreciated by the Verstappens. Jos said in an interview with De Limburger at the end of December:"I also thought we had a good relationship with him, but the real Toto has shown himself lately. There is no click anymore. Now they are cornered for the first time and you see a different Toto. Too bad, but that's how you get to know people."

First contact Wolff and Jos made again

It became clear that father Jos was quite angry with Mercedes. At the Grand Prix at the circuit of Imola, contact was made again after more than half a year, F1-Insider writes. Reporters from the website spoke with Max's father at a moment when Wolff also arrived. One by one, the party received a handshake from Wolff.

The German medium writes on its own website about the situation: 'When Wolff disappeared into the garage after some cosy chats, Verstappen sr. said with surprise: 'That was the first contact I've had with Toto since Silverstone 2021.'
