During the Australian Grand Prix, Red Bull Racing was fighting more with Mercedes than with Ferrari. The mentality at the two teams is quite different and Romain Grosjean finds that funny to see.

Charles Leclerc was too fast for Red Bull and Ferrari in Melbourne and the Monegasque walked away with a dominant victory. Max Verstappen retired again due to reliability issues, but Sergio Perez fought plenty on the track with George Russell and Lewis Hamilton. After the race, the two teams had quite a different mindset.

Christian Horner revealed that he would rather fix a fast car than make a reliable one fast, while Russell stressed that reliability is more important, as it allows them to take advantage of other teams' dropouts. Former Formula 1 driver Grosjean likes the differences between the teams. "We’ve got two different mentalities and different approaches in the media. I think they are both right, but ideally you want a fast car that is reliable," he said in his new YouTube video.

Ferrari had an advantage in 2021

Ferrari, according to Grosjean, has a big advantage because of the title fight between Red Bull and Mercedes in 2021. This has allowed the team to build a lead. "You have to keep in mind that Red Bull and Mercedes fought until the end for the 2021 world championship, whilst Ferrari was developing the 2022 car early in the season. Mercedes and Red Bull didn’t have that luxury. The resources were going towards fighting for the championship. Ferrari made the choice to move on to 2022, and now it’s paying off, they have the best car," added the Frenchman.
