McLaren team boss declares better performance in Australia

McLaren experienced a disappointing start to the season, but at the Australian Grand Prix the racing stable had a positive line to follow. With a fifth and sixth place for Lando Norris and Daniel Ricciardo respectively, McLaren could be satisfied. According to Andreas Seidl, the better performance came because of three reasons.

The McLaren team boss worked hard in recent weeks to bring the team closer to the top teams as quickly as possible. In Australia, what Seidl had hoped for beforehand happened, as Norris and Ricciardo proved to be doing better and as a result grabbed their points convincingly.

In conversation with Motorsport.com Seidl states that there are a number of reasons for this. First of all, McLaren took a few small updates with them to Australia that had a positive effect on the result. In addition, the formation learned a few things about the performance of the car, which allowed them to tune the car better. Finally, the circuit also provided an advantage for McLaren.

McLaren hopes to fight along for front positions

Prior to the season, McLaren still seemed to be one of the title contenders. Whereas the gap with Ferrari is still large, the racing team hopes to make quick steps forward in the coming months. Whether that will be enough to fight for the prizes this season, however, remains to be seen.
