Despite a pretty poor start to the season, Max Verstappen need not be written off as a title contender just yet. This is what Christian Klien and Philipp Eng stated after the Australian Grand Prix at Sport und Talk by ServusTV.

As reigning world champion, Verstappen naturally has hopes of prolonging his title, but with this start to his season, there doesn't seem to be much hope for a defense. The Dutchman won one race, but crashed out in the other two. Although this has put him many points behind Leclerc, Klien does not think it is over and done with for the Dutchman.

Chance for Verstappen

The former Red Bull Racing driver emphasizes mainly the positive side of the story. The car is indeed fast. Ferrari 's F1-75 is possibly a bit faster, but in terms of pace Red Bull is close. Although the reliability leaves much to be desired, this pace offers hope for the Austrian racing team.

Eng agrees with Klien and even states that there is no way overboard yet. According to the Austrian racing driver, with the current points system in Formula 1, anything is still possible for the Dutchman. He also points to Sebastian Vettel's first world title in 2010, when the German started a series of six races before the end with a deficit of 31 points that still gave him the world title.
