Binotto warns: 'Don't know how much Red Bull will benefit from that'

Despite Ferrari's strong start on Friday at the Australian Grand Prix, team boss Mattia Binotto warns that some things can still change in the run-up to the race. He therefore does not yet see his team as the big favorite.

As in Bahrain and Jeddah, it looks like Ferrari and Red Bull Racing have arrived at the finish line with different qualities. The Ferrari looks fast in the corners, while Red Bull gains time on the straights.

The revamped track at Albert Park means that the teams have to look for the right balance. The four DRS zones ensure a high top speed on the straights, but downforce is also important in the fast corners. In addition, the track has new asphalt, which makes finding grip difficult.

Can Red Bull benefit from more grip?

Ferrari was the fastest team on track during the first and second free practice sessions, but Binotto remains cautious. According to the team boss, a lead on Friday does not say much yet.

"I see the same picture as in the first two races. Red Bull is good on the straights, we are good in the corners. Friday doesn't say much yet because we don't know how much reserve everyone has left in the engine mode. We also don't know how much Red Bull will benefit when there is more grip on the track," he tells Auto, Motor und Sport.
