Mick Schumacher has had a tough weekend. The German crashed during Q2 of qualifying for the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix and did not start in Sunday's race. According to former Formula One team principal Colin Kolles, Schumacher is feeling the pressure from his new teammate.

It was a bit of a scare when Schumacher hit the wall hard during qualifying and didn't get out of his car right away. Fortunately, the Haas driver did not suffer any physical injuries and after a check-up at the hospital he appeared to be okay. Nevertheless, he did not participate in the Grand Prix after the hard hit.

With the unexpected arrival of Kevin Magnussen, Schumacher has a talented new teammate who will challenge him much more than Nikita Mazepin did in 2021. According to Kolles, the crash in Jeddah shows that the German is under pressure this season. "It was a really shocking moment, a result of the pressure his new teammate is putting on him. The bar is much higher, but the great thing is that he is up to the challenge", he says on Sport1.de.

Challenge for Schumacher

The former F1 team boss emphasizes that Schumacher will have to work hard to get to the level of Magnussen. The Dane immediately drove a strong weekend in Bahrain with a P5 after a year's absence and only a few test days. "Magnussen will not get worse either, but he will only get better."
