According to Sergio Perez, Red Bull Racing has found the solution to the problem in Bahrain. The Mexican also gives an insight into how the problem could have occurred.

From a second and a fourth place with the corresponding 30 points, Red Bull Racing left Bahrain with zero points. Two DNF's in the final laps of the race, with, in all likelihood, the same problem: no more fuel was getting into the engine. The fuel pump was pointed out, but it was not the cause of the problem.

Problem at Red Bull

Talking to Reuters, Perez explains that the team knows exactly what happened and that they are pretty sure that the problem has been solved. However, a problem with the fuel pump itself did not appear to be the issue. "It was a standard part but I think our system basically didn't work as expected. That's what caused the issue," Perez explained.

For Formula 1, it would also have been particularly embarrassing if a part that is delivered as standard to all teams failed. So Red Bull itself appears to have done something wrong, but on Thursday it didn't say what. They do not want to make the competition any the wiser for the coming races.
