Marko hopes for quick solution Red Bull: 'Of course we are concerned'

Red Bull Racing left Bahrain with zero points thanks to the late dropouts of Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez. Helmut Marko expresses concern, but is confident that Red Bull will have solved the problems before Saudi Arabia.

Concerns at Red Bull Racing

The two Red Bull drivers' stoppages were caused by problems with the fuel pump. With only a week between the first two Grands Prix the team will have to solve these problems quickly. Marko admits at Motorsport.com admits to being naturally concerned about the problems. However, the Red Bull advisor is confident that the problems can be solved before the race in Jeddah and hopes to be in a better position there.

This is not the first time Red Bull Racing has started a season so poorly. Also in 2020, the opening race ended in two drivers dropping out with Verstappen and Alexander Albon. Before that, it was 2008 when both drivers dropped out in the opening race, then with David Coulthard and Mark Webber.

Red Bull has to work even harder than before

The fuel pump was not the only problem for Verstappen in Bahrain. The Dutchman struggled with steering problems. According to Marko, the cause was the third pit stop. According to the Austrian, the jack damaged something in the steering system when the car was brought to a stop.

All in all, a painful start to the season for the team that wants to successfully defend Verstappen's world title this season. Red Bull is already facing a gap of 44 points to Ferrari and 27 points to Mercedes. Marko, however, is not easily deterred and indicates that Red Bull now simply has to work even harder than before.
