Global interest in Formula 1 has increased considerably in recent years. The title fight between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton brought that interest to a peak in 2021. Christian Horner hopes for another competitive season, but it could be a little less controversial as far as he is concerned.

The team bosses of Red Bull Racing and Mercedes both do not shy away from mental games. They will therefore continue in 2022. In conversation with City A.M Horner says that he has a lot of respect for his rivals at Mercedes but that he has also noticed that the team does not like to lose.

Horner hopes for competitive F1 season

"We’ve been the first team that has stood up and beaten them, and you can tell they don't like being beaten. So that’s been rewarding in itself," he explained. The Red Bull team boss stresses that he hopes for another competitive season. "Hopefully less less contentious, this one," he adds.

Formula 1 has seen an upswing in popularity in recent years, culminating in 2021. Red Bull Racing also has its share of that, according to Horner. "Red Bull put Formula 1 back on the map last year, because without that title fight, it would’ve been another walkover by Lewis, he’d have won it by the summer break, it would’ve been a boring championship," he concludes.
