Russian rookie Sergey Sirotkin has no explanation for the crisis his team Williams has found itself in, as the British team has looked incredibly subpar in the first three races of the season.

After the retirement of Felipe Massa at the end of 2017, Sirotkin joined the team in the off-season to replace the Brazilian to the surprise of many people, who would've rather seen veteran Robert Kubica in the seat next to Lance Stroll as the Polish driver is very experienced. Kubica has instead taken on the role as the reserve driver for Williams. Sirotkin doesn't know where the drop-off in performance compared to last year came from.

"We don't understand why this is happening," the rookie told Sport Express on the fact that his team is struggling so much.

He added that he was very surprised about the lack of pace the FW41 has, saying that it wasn't known until the team took to the track.

"It's a big surprise because we didn't get this data until we were out on the track driving.

"So far we haven't had a chance to solve our problems."

Williams is the only team who's car is actually slower than last year, which also caught the Russian by surprise.

"It's odd because if you look at the numbers we crunched, we should be faster than last year, not slower.

"We need new parts and a lot of adjustments to take a big step forward.

"I'm trying to do everything that I can do for my part as a driver, but other than that we don't have many options."
