Five things we want to see in the new season of Drive to Survive

On Friday, March 11 the fourth season of the F1 Netflix series Drive to Survive will premiere. Expectations for the latest season of the series are high, as the 2021 season had more than enough drama in store for the program makers. What moments do we definitely want to see again in the series? We have listed five of them.

Championship celebrations for Verstappen and Red Bull

After a season full of excitement and frenzy, the dramatic conclusion took place at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Max Verstappen 's winning overtake of Lewis Hamilton on the final lap of the race must have been an emotional roller coaster for the entire Red Bull Racing team, and it's certainly something we'd like to see behind the scenes.

As if that last lap wasn't dramatic enough, a few tense hours followed as Verstappen and Red Bull awaited the protests filed by Mercedes. When the protests were declared invalid, the relief was immense. Red Bull Racing's championship celebrations, which, at least for Verstappen, went on into the late hours of the morning, is certainly not to be missed.

Last lap Abu Dhabi behind the scenes

Speaking of emotional roller coasters, the final round of the final race in Abu Dhabi, as well as the events leading up to it, brought a lot of emotions to the rival teams of Red Bull Racing and Mercedes.

At Mercedes it led to disbelief in a negative sense, at Red Bull the opposite happened. Pictures from behind the scenes at both teams would not be out of place. From the communication between the pit wall and race director Michael Masi to an angry Toto Wolff; we want to see it all.

Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort

Another highlight of the 2021 Formula 1 season was the Dutch Grand Prix. A highlight for the Netherlands, but also for the sport. The race weekend in Zandvoort grew into a huge popular party where everyone was welcome. The positive energy could be felt everywhere, as many attendees from the Formula 1 world noted.

To top it all off, local hero Verstappen also won the race, which made the atmosphere unstoppable. The weekend in Zandvoort brought a sigh of relief at a time when audiences at races were anything but a given.

Victory for Ricciardo with McLaren

Something else that should certainly not be missed, and which we already know will be the subject of an episode, is Daniel Ricciardo's victory in Monza. He managed to put the Italian Grand Prix on his name after the inevitable happened: ruffians Verstappen and Hamilton did not give each other an inch and crashed together out of the race.

The clash between the title rivals resulted in the best weekend McLaren had experienced in years. Ricciardo won his first race with the team, while teammate Lando Norris secured second place. As icing on the cake, McLaren was the team that Netflix hosted that weekend, so there will be extensive coverage.

Tensions between Haas and Mazepin

One moment that has suddenly become very relevant in recent weeks includes the disagreement between Haas team boss Guenther Steiner and father and son Mazepin. It was recently revealed that Netflix were present at an altercation between the two parties, with Nikita Mazepin accusing his team of giving Mick Schumacher a lighter car. Dmitry Mazepin then threatened to pull the plug on title sponsor Uralkali's funding of the team. The conflict seemed to have been eventually appeased, as the sponsor remained with the team.

As is well known, however, this is no longer the case in the meantime: Haas recently announced it was breaking with the Russian title sponsor, because of Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
