On Tuesday, the World Motor Sport Council will meet to discuss the situation in Russia and Ukraine. The International Olympic Committee has requested that Russians and Belarusians be banned from international sporting events. Even before the WMSC's decision, Daniil Kvyat will make a comment.

No Russians in international motorsport competitions?

Since Russia's invasion of Ukraine last Thursday, sports federations have been working to come up with good solutions. Soccer associations FIFA and UEFA have already suspended all Russian teams from competitions, and on Tuesday the WMSC will meet with the FIA to decide on athletes and sports teams in motorsport.

Even before the WMSC comes out with a decision, former F1 driver Kvyat gives his reaction. The Russian says he hopes for a peaceful solution to the situation in Ukraine and says he doesn't want any more wars or military operations in the world.

Kvyat possibly the brunt of the decision

The invasion of his homeland in Ukraine may also cause Kvyat personal problems. Last winter, the Russian signed a contract with Russia's G-Drive Racing in the World Endurance Championship. However, the WMSC may cause G-Drive and Kvyat to both be excluded from international competitions.

Kvyat is therefore making an appeal on his social channels, "I would also like to highlight and address all sports federations across the world, including IOC, that sport should remain outside politics and disallowing Russian athletes and teams from participating in world competitions is an unfair solution." According to Kvyat, this decision goes against the idea of sport, which should actually bring people together.
