Lewis Hamilton, despite losing the world title in 2021, added a prize to his name. Namely, he wins the 2021 Hawthorn Memorial Trophy. It is the eleventh time he has won this award.

Hawthorn Memorial Trophy

Lewis Hamilton has won the prestigious 2021 Hawthorn Memorial Trophy. The award bears the name of Mike Hawthorn, Britain's first Formula One world champion in 1958. He died a year later in a car accident.

FormulaPassion.it knows to report that the award was handed out by the Royal Automobile Club of London. The award is presented annually to the British or Commonwealth driver with the best result in the Formula One standings.

Other winners in Hamilton's era

Hamilton is now winning the award for the eleventh time since he entered Formula 1 in 2007. The only times he did not win this in his career were when Jenson Button (2009 and 2011) and Mark Webber (2010 and 2013) finished above him. It is also the eighth time in a row that the award has gone to Hamilton.
