Williams hopes to make great strides in Formula 1 in the coming years. The British racing stable therefore decided to bring in Jenson Button as an advisor in 2021. George Russell has had very positive experiences with Button, he tells the official website of Formula 1.

The 42-year-old Button has made his mark in Formula 1 in the past. For many years, he was one of the best drivers in the motorsport class and captured his only world title in 2009. In 2016, he announced that he would step down at the end of the season and join McLaren as an ambassador. A few years later, he returned to the sport as an advisor for Williams.

"I’ve been fortunate even prior to Jenson joining Williams again that I had a good relationship with him. And he was very open and always there whenever needed," says the proud Russell, who is very enthusiastic about the former Formula 1 driver's qualities. "It’s in ways unique to have somebody like Jenson a part of your team."

Williams hopes for surprising year

However, Williams' performance last season was nothing to write home about, despite vast improvements from 2020. While Russell's good performance saw him manage 16 points, Nicholas Latifi scored seven points, and this season the team hopes to do better with Alexander Albon and Latifi.
