Lando Norris finished sixth in the drivers' standings in 2021, clearly distancing himself from his new teammate Daniel Ricciardo. Partly thanks to the strong results of the young Briton, the old rivalry between McLaren and Ferrari was revived. He himself sees 2021 as his strongest Formula 1 season to date.

The 2021 Formula One season was not only marked by the battle for the world championship between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton, but behind them a heated battle also took place. McLaren and Ferrari fought until the last race for third place in the constructors' championship, while Carlos Sainz, Charles Leclerc and Lando Norris battled it out for fifth place in the drivers' championship.

Norris had extremely strong season

Norris managed to beat Ferrari driver Leclerc but had to concede 4.5 points to his former teammate Sainz. Partly due to the late updates from Ferrari, McLaren also lost the battle for third place in the Constructors' Championship to the Italian team. Nevertheless, Norris sees 2021 as his strongest season to date.

This is certainly reflected in his results. Norris was one of the most consistent drivers of the season until he saw his first win go up in smoke at the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi. After that, the young Brit seemed to go through a dip, but nevertheless, he had an extremely strong season.

"This was definitely my best season so far," Norris told Formula1.com. "After all, I'm only on my third season." The spoils: four podium finishes, a near victory and 160 championship points. The 2021 season was indeed very successful for the McLaren driver.
