Juan Pablo Montoya will participate with Arrow McLaren SP in the 106th edition of the Indianapolis 500 for the second consecutive time, the Colombian announced on social media.

Montoya returns to McLaren

The former Formula One driver took the prestigious event to his name in his very first participation in 2000 with Chip Ganassi Racing, something no one had managed since Graham Hill in 1966. He also won the Indy 500 in 2015, this time with Team Penske.

In 2021, he drove in the legendary race with McLaren SP. That partnership has pleased both parties, as they announced on Tuesday that they will take on the challenge again this year. Montoya joins the team's full-time lineup and will thus drive the IndyCar class on behalf of McLaren for the entire season.

Arrow McLaren SP hopes to expand to a third car later in the season, with the goal of competing full-time in the IndyCar class with three drivers starting in 2023.
