Dakar Rally 2022 | Results Stage 8: From Al Dawadimi > Wadi Ad Dawasir

Today the eighth stage of the Dakar Rally is on the programme. The route runs from Al Dawadimi to Wadi Ad Dawasir in Saudi Arabia. The route is 830 kilometers long. The ride is varied with dunes and sand and rock paths.

Results Motorcycles

Sam Sunderland has won the eighth stage of the motorcycles. With this victory he takes back the lead in the general classification. Pablo Quintanilla crossed the line in second place. Matthias Walkner completed the top three.

Results Cars

Former DTM driver Mattias Ekström crossed the line as the fastest car. The Swede was 49 seconds faster in his Audi than his teammate Stéphane Peterhansel. Frenchman Sebastien Loeb finished third. Classification leader Nassar Al-Attiyah thought his rally was over during the eighth stage. The Qatari had a mechanical problem and a flat tire. However, he ended up losing just seven minutes to number two in the standings, Sebastien Loeb.

Results Quads

By the Quads, the eighth stage was won by Alexandre Giroux. The Frenchman was only 48 seconds faster than number two Marcelo Medeiros over 830 kilometers. American Pablo Copetti finished third. He came in 12 minutes from the winner.

Results SSVs

The Goczal brothers managed to ensure a nice one-two with the SSVs. Marek beat his brother Michal by 2 minutes and 48 seconds. The third and last place on the podium was taken by Gerard Farres Guell.

Results Trucks

With the trucks it is no surprise that a driver of the Russian KAMAZ team wins, but it is always the question which driver it is. The eighth stage was won by Dmitry Sotnikov. The classification leader thus increased his lead in the overall ranking over his compatriots. In the stage Andrey Karginov finished second, ahead of Eduard Nikolaev and Anton Shibalov.
