Petition to make Hamilton champion receives tens of thousands of signatures

Shortly after the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix Lewis Hamilton's fans started a petition to make the Briton the champion of 2021. At first the petition didn't seem to be very successful, but almost three weeks after the all decisive race, some people signed the petition.

Hamilton lost the world championship after a controversial race. In the closing stages Michael Masi decided to restart the race behind the safety car, allowing Max Verstappen to overtake the Brit on fresher tyres.

Fans of Hamilton were furious after the race and did all sorts of actions to show this. They want the result to be reversed. The chance that this will happen is pretty much zero, because Mercedes decided the week after the Abu Dhabi GP not to protest any further.

Petition quite successful

Still, the petition on Change already collected more than 40,000 signatures. With 50,000 signatures, it is one of the best signed petitions on the site. Fans can keep trying, but they will slowly have to accept that the result of the championship is not going to change anymore.
